 - [[bosch/_brand]] — Bosch power tools, 65 products across 20 categories (operator paste 2026-08-09)

 - Confidence on GWS 700 bumped from `medium` → `high` (Bosch product page is authoritative)
 - Future wiki agents will apply this rule automatically when patching pages

## [2026-08-09] create | Metabo brand skeleton
- Domain: power-tools catalogue, Metabo blue-line professional
- Files created (12 total):
  - `power-tools/brands/metabo/_brand.md` — Metabo overview, model-number nomenclature (W/KHE/BE/SBE/SSD/SSD/KS/ASE/SXE prefix decoder)
  - 9 category placeholder directories: angle-grinders, rotary-hammers, drills, screwdrivers, impact-wrenches, saws, sanders, blowers, heat-guns
  - `power-tools/brands/metabo/_research/research-pipeline.md` — Mirrors Bosch pipeline, scoped to Metabo LTX platform
  - `power-tools/brands/metabo/_research/raw/` — empty, awaiting first web-research batch
- Cron job `metabo-spec-enrichment` created (id `7db10c9fb922`), runs daily 07:00 UTC, batch of 5
- Metabo cron has built-in check: if zero product pages exist, abort with message instead of inventing models
- **No products seeded yet** — waiting on operator part list (paste like Bosch was)
- Once operator pastes Metabo list, paste-runs to bootstrap ~60-100 products via the same scaffold script used for Bosch

 ## [2026-08-09] update | GWS 700 — SA retail prices filled in
 - Initial research subagent found no SA price (bosch-professional.com/za was 404)
 - Second-pass search via `mmx search query` found four retailer sources:

Metabowerke GmbH (Nürtingen, Germany). Founded 1924, acquired by Hitachi/Koki Holdings in 2016 (now part of the **HiKOKI / Metabo HPT** group, but the **Metabo** brand remains independent and targets the European professional market).

This wiki catalogue tracks the Metabo **blue line** (professional, 230 V corded and 18 V / 36 V cordless). The green "Casals" / hobby range is excluded.

## Related

- [[bosch/_brand]] — sibling brand, same wiki format
- Daily cron `metabo-spec-enrichment` (5 products per day, queued after Bosch batch 13/13 completes)

## Open follow-ups

- **No products seeded yet.** Skeleton only; cron will populate.
- **SA retail price verification** — many Metabo products are imported via Hitachi SA / Metabo SA dealer network, not Takealot. May need to pull from `metabo.co.za` dealer list.

## Research progress

| Category | Products researched | Pending |
|---|---:|---:|
| All categories | 0 | *all* |

*Next cron tick: after `bosch-spec-enrichment` completes (target 2026-08-23 if Bosch takes 13 days). Will start with cordless angle grinders (LTX family) by popularity.*

# Metabo technical-spec research pipeline

Same workflow as the Bosch pipeline, scoped to the Metabo blue line.

## Stages

1. **Pick a batch.** Pull N products with empty specs (default N = 5 per batch).
Priority order — Metabo cordless LTX platform first (most-quoted):
   - Cordless 18 V angle grinders (`W 18 LTX 125`, etc.)
   - Cordless 18 V combi hammers (`KHE 18 LTX`)
   - Cordless 18 V impact wrenches (`SSD 18 LTX`)
   - Cordless 18 V drill/drivers (`BE 18 LTX`, `SBE 18 LTX`)
   - Corded 230 V angle grinders (`W 850-125`, `W 1100-125`, `W 2200-230`)
   - Corded combi hammers (`KHE 2860`, `KHE 5-40`)
   - Impact breakers (`MHE 98`, `MHE 11`)
   - Saws, sanders, blowers, heat guns
2. **Web lookup.** Prefer `metabo.com/int/en/products/<model>` then fall back to
`metabo.co.za` for SA-specific RRP. Use `mmx search query` first (faster than
   browser scraping — Metabo's site is JS-rendered).
3. **Save raw.** Drop HTML or markdown into
   `_research/raw/<model>-<date>.md` with frontmatter
   (`source_url`, `ingested`, `sha256`).
4. **Update product page.** Same fields as Bosch: identity, specs, retail-prices,
notes, related, provenance. Bump `updated` date and set `confidence: high` if
   metabo.com is the source.
5. **Flag contradictions.** If operator description ≠ Metabo spec, capture with
   `operator_<field>` + `supplier_<field>` + `<field>_resolution` per the
   SCHEMA.md source-of-truth rule.
6. **Log.** Append `## [YYYY-MM-DD] update | metabo-spec-enrichment` to `log.md`.

## Priority order

1. **Cordless 18 V angle grinders** — most-quoted
2. **Cordless 18 V combi hammers (KHE LTX)** — premium segment
3. **Cordless 18 V impact wrenches (SSD LTX)** — torque confusion common
4. **Cordless 18 V drill/drivers (BE / SBE LTX)**
5. **Corded 230 V angle grinders (W series)** — every-day entry level
6. **Corded SDS-Max breakers (MHE)**
7. **Remaining saws, sanders, blowers, heat guns**

## Cron schedule

Same as Bosch: **daily 07:00 UTC**, batch of 5 products. Queued **after**
`bosch-spec-enrichment` completes its first pass (Bosch ~13 days = ~2026-08-22).

## Failure modes

- Metabo EU page exists but SA page 404 → use EU spec, mark
  `tags: [metabo, <category>, no-sa-distribution]`.
- Metabo product page 404 → mark `discontinued`, log for operator review.
- No SA retail price found on metabo.co.za → search Metabo SA dealer network
(Mascus SA, Toolstation ZA, BobShop, ManPower Tools SA).
